# How to Purchase $MARTIAN tokens

If you have never purchased new tokens before on the Binance Smart Chain or PancakeSwap, it is very easy and guide will show you how to purchase $MARTIAN tokens.

## STEPS

**Step 1**: Click on the [direct link](https://exchange.pancakeswap.finance/#/swap?inputCurrency=0xe9e7cea3dedca5984780bafc599bd69add087d56\&outputCurrency=0xca167f0a8eb9f91b31d40134ce1cc3b8baf4d72f) which will direct you to PancakeSwap with BUSD and MARTIAN tokens pre-selected on the exchange options.

**Step 2**: Edit your slippage to **6%**.&#x20;

**Step 3**: Enter amount of tokens you wish to purchase and continue.  You may need to press "Swap" or "Swap Anyways". &#x20;

**Step 4**: Done.  You have now successfully purchase $MARTIAN tokens.&#x20;

## Why did My Transaction Fail?

**Potential Causes**

1. Exceeded Max Transfer Amount
2. Slippage tolerance not set to 5%

**Max Transfer**

MartianSwap has implemented an [anti-whale](/martianswap/tokenomics/mitigate-pump-and-dumps.md) measure to prevent the typical whale "pump & dump" that occurs at launch.  The max transaction amount will increase daily as it is calculated as 0.5% of the total minted tokens. &#x20;

At launch, the max transaction is 1,250.  This prevents whales from purchasing 100K+ tokens one moment, and then selling the 100K tokens a few minutes later resulting in a "pump" and then "dump" of the token and price. &#x20;

**Slippage**

MartianSwap has implemented a transfer tax to therefore requiring an increase of the slippage.  Each transfer incurs a 5% transfer tax fee.  1% will be automatically burned with each transfer, while 4% will be added to the [automatic liquidity pool](/martianswap/tokenomics/auto-liquidity-mechanism.md). The whole process is automatic.
